Beni Gassenbauer paints big, luminous, figurative watercolors. Being fascinated by the strong light contrasts, he chooses watercolor because it provides him the necessary transparency for painting the Mediterranean light that burst out in the brightness of the sun and penetrates the deepest shadow, creating breathtaking, intense color contrasts.
Beni invites us entering ancient gates, backyards, shadowed passageways, or balconies. There, he transmits to the audience his deep feelings of quietness and peace.
Beni Gassenbauer was born in 1949 in France and lives in Jerusalem since forty years. He has studied with the best masters and art teachers in Israel. He has been selected to participate in numerous international watercolor exhibitions, in Europe as well as Asia.
